Thank you very much for writing in, and for presenting a counter point. As I mentioned, this show has had a long run, and obviously has a fan base - which can only mean that there is an audience for it. I certainly applauded the effort, I simply wasn't clear on the direction, and unfortunately that made it a little cumbersome for me. The great thing about NYC theatre is that there is a show out there for every taste, and a taste out there for every show. I'm pleased you enjoyed the performance, and I hope all who find themselves in the audience for this show feel their money was well spent.

I saw Mr. Shakespeare and Mr. Porter last night. I must disagree with this review. It was a blast. I thought the songs were hilariously and carefully placed into the Shakespeare plays, and the whole concept was very clever. Turning the greatest of tragedies into comedies was a brilliant move. The evening was thoroughly enjoyable, with wonderful performers and madcap mayhem all around. I mean, the dead bodies on the stage at the end of Hamlet, leaping up to sing the "Heaven Hop" who couldn't laugh at that? At times, I mut say, there were moments of imprecision, but I expect that a tiny budgeted, experimental theater. It's nice to see a place where they still try things and have fun doing it. See the show!
