Karen Tortora-Lee’s Question
This is an international festival. What part of the world are you coming from … and will your show tantalize the NYC audience with a taste of your nation’s culture?
Angela Chan: East meets west in our show about a first generation Chinese immigrant, Lily, and her daughter Mei as they endure the trials and tribulations of old school parenting in a new country. We hope to show NYC audiences a taste of tough love, Asian style!

Dianna Martin’s Question
Who is the greatest inspiration to you artistically?
Angela Chan: My greatest influence would be my dad. He has always pushed me (in both good and bad ways!) to do and be more.

Geoffrey Paddy Johnson’s Question
What emerged as the greatest challenge during the development of this production?
Angela Chan:One of the biggest challenges in our show was in the formulating of the characters. Myself being from a Chinese background and my cowriter being non-Asian, it was a little difficult for him to understand some of the personalities and nuances necessary to making the characters as authentic as possible.

You’re in Times Square surrounded by the best Broadway houses and highest selling entertainment in the world. What resources are you utilizing to spread the word about your show and get butts in seats?
Angela Chan: We tried to reach people through our own social networks on facebook, the actors and musicians communities, Time Out NY, canvassing Chinatown and local businesses with information about our show.
